The DLAB itself was sort of weird: I had to learn a made up language in a set amount of time. When I took my ASVAB, I scored high enough to get offered to take the DLAB to see if I was good enough to learn a language. But as I said, I did attend linguist school.

These were quick Chinese, Russian and Arabic (respectively) tests, druing which they'd teach you some of each language and test you. Back when I went in (1986) the AF would give you three tests during basic: The CAT, RAT, and APE. Others in this particular forum definitely will be able to help you. Prior language generally won't matter, unless your prior experience is in Pashto, Kurmanji, ARabic, Persian (Farsi or Dari) or something like that.

Unless things changed, the 105 should qual you for any language. I scored a 96 on my ASVAB and 105 DLAB, any idea which category of languages I'm most likely to be assigned? Do I have a choice in the matter? Does prior experience with a specific language have carry any weight in the AF's decision? Any help or reccomendations from people who know would be appreciated.
